Building Bridges Between Humans and the Fungal World
At La Mycosphère, our mission goes beyond simply growing mushrooms. Above all, we seek to make the fungal world more accessible: its species, its uses, the knowledge surrounding it, and the relationships we can build with it.
This mission takes many forms. It involves producing mycelium and substrates, supporting growers, as well as nutrition, well-being, education, and discovery. Growing a mushroom, watching it develop, cooking with it, or learning about its properties are all gateways to a kingdom that is still all too often misunderstood.
We are convinced that mushrooms will play a vital role in our future. Our work consists of helping to spread awareness about them, promoting a better understanding of their importance, and giving as many people as possible the opportunity to explore this fascinating world.
Why North Spore?
Across the Atlantic, North Spore is pursuing a very similar goal. Founded in the United States by mycology enthusiasts, the company develops products, equipment, and educational resources designed to make mushroom cultivation simpler and more accessible.
What brings us together, then, is not just a shared interest in culture. It is a shared desire to pass on knowledge, to experiment, and to make mycology accessible without losing any of its richness.
From Good Mycelium to the Right Environment
A successful cultivation never depends on a single factor. Suitable genetics, healthy and vigorous mycelium, and a substrate that meets the species’ needs form the foundation. But once the substrate is colonized, the fungus must still receive the right signals to produce fruiting bodies.
Depending on the species, it is necessary to strike a balance between several factors:
Moisture: It prevents the pins from drying out and supports the development of fruiting bodies.
It removes excess CO₂ produced by the mycelium and promotes healthy growth.
Temperature: It must remain within the range appropriate for the species and its developmental stage.
It helps many species navigate and organize their fruiting.
Maintaining this balance manually is possible, but it requires observation, availability, and regular adjustments. This is precisely where the systems developed by North Spore come into play.

BoomRoom II: A Full-Fledged fruiting s Room
The BoomRoom II is an automated “Martha”-style grow room. It combines a transparent grow tent, five shelves, a humidifier controlled by a humidity controller, and a fresh air circulation system into a single unit.
It eliminates the need to select and adjust each component of a custom-built grow room individually. Once the settings are adjusted according to the plant species being grown, the humidifier and ventilation system help maintain a more consistent environment, requiring fewer daily adjustments.
With an interior volume of approximately 0.51 m³, it can hold several blocks or bags at the same time. Each shelf can support approximately 9 kg, for a maximum total capacity of nearly 45 kg of substrate, which should be distributed in such a way as to leave enough space for fruiting bodies to develop.

It can accommodate our ready-to-grow bundles directly, as well as bags, trays, jars, and small single-tube containers. The settings must always be adjusted to suit the needs of the species being grown.
Boomr Bin: The Automated Single-Tube System
The Boomr Bin offers an alternative way to grow plants: more compact, more personal, and more geared toward experimenting with loose growing media.
A monotub is a container in which colonized mycelium is typically combined with a suitable substrate. The container then serves as a protected environment for colonization and subsequent fruiting. The Boomr Bin incorporates this principle into a sturdy, reusable design, featuring an opaque base, a transparent lid, and openings equipped with filters.
In its automated version, the system includes a humidifier, a humidity controller, and a small fan. These components help maintain more consistent humidity levels and air circulation, eliminating the need to manually spray water and ventilate the room several times a day.
With a maximum capacity of approximately 11.3 kg of growing medium, it offers more flexibility than a simple bag while remaining reasonably compact. It is suitable for both beginners and more experienced growers who want to adjust their growing media and parameters.

Which La Mycosphère products should I use them with?
The choice depends primarily on the species and the cultivation method. There is no one-size-fits-all substrate: a wood-growing species does not have the same needs as a species adapted to a CVG substrate.
Bales Ready to Yield
The simplest solution for the BoomRoom II. Once the bundle has been sufficiently colonized, it can be opened according to the species-specific instructions and placed in the chamber at fruiting.
All-in-One Grain + CVG Bag
The sterilized grain and the CVG substrate are combined in a single bag, ready for inoculation. It can produce fruit inside the bag or serve as an initial step before moving on to a single-tube culture.
Separate mycelia and substrates
To further customize the recipe and inoculation rate, the Boomr Bin can be used with colonized grain-based mycelium and a bulk substrate suitable for the species.
