The quality of an extract depends heavily on the process used. Not all of the compounds naturally found in Reishi are present in the same fractions: some are fat-soluble, while others are water-soluble.
Reishi fruiting bodies are freeze-dried after harvest, then processed using three complementary methods:
- Supercritical CO₂ extraction for fat-soluble compounds, particularly triterpenes

- Hot-water extraction for the water-soluble fraction, particularly polysaccharides such as beta-glucans
