Lion’s Mane (Hericium erinaceus) is a mushroom known for its culinary qualities and its natural abundance of bioactive compounds, which have been studied in modern scientific research.

Characteristics of culture media:

  • harvest Up to 1.5 kg of fresh mushrooms over 3 harvests.
  • Ingredients: Water, sawdust, grains (including alfalfa), lime, Lion's Mane mycelium. Net weight of the bale: approx. 4.8 kg. Dimensions: 25 x 20 x 20 cm.
  • Uses: cooking and extracting the active compounds from the mushroom.

Lion's Mane mushrooms can grow year-round at temperatures between 10 and 25°C. For fruiting , avoid drafts and temperature fluctuations. They require high humidity but should not be left wet.

Care instructions: If you don't have a suitable growing space, place a clear plastic bag with small holes punched in it over the bundle. Air out the bundle twice a day by removing the plastic.

Note: harvest estimates harvest based on our experience but are not guaranteed. Yields depend on growing conditions and the grower’s experience.

(*) Our bales are certified organic ("BE-BIO-01") by Certisys (Belgium).

🌱 Instructions for Use

Follow the instructions to ensure a successful grow and harvest.

First, make sure to remove all the air from the bag by making a small slit at the top if necessary. Fold the plastic over to the side and secure it with tape or by laying it flat on its side.

Next, make two 5-cm cross-shaped cuts on each side of the bundle. Keep the growing medium moist; use a spray bottle if necessary. The primordia will appear after 1 to 2 weeks and develop over the next 1 to 2 weeks.

Harvest the mushrooms when the spines are about 5 mm long. If the mushrooms turn yellow before reaching this stage, they have likely been stressed by drafts or temperature fluctuations. Harvest them at that point and wait for the next harvest.

🌸 fruiting parameters fruiting

fruiting temperature 12–25°C
Relative humidity 85–95%
fruiting period 4–8 days
CO2 concentration 500–1,000 ppm
fresh air exchange 4–8 cubic meters per hour
Light requirements 500–1,000 lux
Number of harvests 2–3 harvests, spaced 10–15 days apart

🏡 Where should you grow your mushrooms?

Ideal for indoor growing (kitchen, garage, basement), Lion's Mane thrives in indirect sunlight. Avoid drafts, radiators, and direct sunlight.

🍄 harvest Storage

You can harvest 3 to 4 times from this type of bundle. To harvest, gently twist and pull the cluster out. Remove any remaining stem pieces to prevent them from rotting and affecting future harvests. After letting it rest for a few days, soak the bundle in water overnight, drain it, and then wait for the next harvest.

Lion's Mane mushrooms will keep for about 5 days in the refrigerator in a paper bag. For longer storage, dry them and grind them into a powder.

It's growing well!

The mushroom growing kit arrived in a few days; we opened it and watered it according to the instructions. Within a few days, the mushrooms started to appear, and we’re letting them grow until it’s time to harvest them. We’re very satisfied and plan to order another variety to grow.

Thank you for your feedback. Happy gardening!

unlike button mushrooms, Lion's Mane

Unlike button mushrooms, the Lion's Mane mushroom is growing well. It's not ready to be harvested yet. It's a real joy to watch it grow.
