Discover our culture media for preparing your Petri dishes:

  • "MEA+" medium (Malt Extract, Agar-agar, Peptone):
A rich nutrient medium suitable for culturing most types of mycelium. It also promotes bacterial growth, making it a good choice for testing the purity of air or samples (contamination tests).

  • "Sabouraud + Antibiotic" medium:

Enriched with an antibiotic (chloramphenicol), this medium limits bacterial growth and becomes highly selective. It is ideal for sensitive procedures such as the cloning of wild-type fungi or the germination of spores, especially under non-sterile conditions. Mycelial growth may, however, be slightly slower in this medium than in a medium such as MEA+.

These media are designed for use with our sterile Petri dishes and stretch films.

    Usage:

    • Dissolve the 47-gram packet in 1 liter of hot water (preferably distilled or demineralized water). Stir until smooth.
    • Sterilize at 121°C (15 PSI) for 20–30 minutes.
    • Let it cool to 45–50°C, then distribute it into the petri dishes.

The agar must be cooled and spread into Petri dishes in a sterile environment (laminar flow hood, Bunsen burner, or other technique) to prevent contamination.

If you pour the liquid into the petri dishes while it is still too hot, condensation may form on the lids. If you wait too long for it to cool, the mixture may solidify.
