To prepare your crop

MycoWood BIO is an enriched, sterilized, and inoculation-ready wood-based substrate designed for growing wood-decaying mushrooms: oyster mushrooms, shiitake, lion’s mane, reishi, eryngii, pioppino, nameko, and other species suited to wood-based substrates.

Each bag contains approximately 3 kg of moistened and sterilized substrate. It is delivered uninoculated and must be inoculated with mycelium on grains that has already been colonized.

MycoWood BIO or All-in-One Mushroom Grow Bag?

MycoWood BIO contains only a sterile, enriched wood substrate. You must add your own mycelium on grains.

The All-in-One Mushroom Grow Bag , on the other hand, contains both spawn and CVG substrate combined in the same bag.

For wood-growing mushrooms such as oyster mushrooms, shiitake, lion’s mane, or reishi, we recommend MycoWood BIO.

Why choose MycoWood BIO?

  • Ready for inoculation: the substrate has already been prepared, hydrated, bagged, and sterilized.
  • Enriched wood substrate: a formulation tailored to the needs of wood-decaying fungi.
  • Wide selection of varieties: oyster mushrooms, shiitake, lion’s mane, reishi, king trumpet mushrooms, pioppino, nameko, etc.
  • Saves time: No need to prepare, moisten, and sterilize your growing medium yourself.
  • Convenient 3-kg size: easier to handle, inoculate, and organize during incubation.
  • Suitable for use in organic farming: product certified by Certisys under number BE-BIO-01.

Composition

MycoWood BIO is made from untreated sawdust—primarily beech—combined with an organic nutrient supplement.

This formulation provides the mycelium with a balanced source of carbon and nutrients to promote rapid colonization and productive fruiting of species adapted to wood-enriched substrates.

Recommended species

MycoWood BIO is particularly well-suited for wood-dwelling fungi—that is, species that grow naturally on wood or plant matter rich in lignin.

  • Oyster mushrooms
  • Shiitake mushrooms
  • Lion's Mane / Hericium
  • Reishi
  • King Oyster Mushrooms
  • Piopino
  • Nameko
  • Other species adapted to wood-enriched substrates

How much mycelium should I use?

We generally recommend an inoculation rate of 5 to 10 percent, or approximately 150 to 300 g of grain-based mycelium per 3-kg bag.

A higher inoculation rate generally results in faster colonization and can help the mycelium take hold of the substrate more quickly.

How do you inoculate MycoWood BIO?

Since the substrate is sterile and rich in nutrients, inoculation must be performed under conditions that are as clean as possible to minimize the risk of contamination.

  1. Set up a clean workspace and minimize air movement.
  2. Clean and disinfect your work surface, your hands or gloves, and any equipment used.
  3. Disinfect the outside of the bag, especially the opening, with 70% alcohol or a suitable disinfectant.
  4. Open the bag just below the seal using a clean, disinfected blade or scissors.
  5. Add about 150 to 300 g of colonized grain mycelium.
  6. Immediately seal the bag using an appropriate sealing machine.
  7. Gently mix the contents to distribute the mycelium throughout the substrate.
  8. Next, place the bag in an incubation chamber at the temperature appropriate for the species being cultivated, which is generally around 20 to 24 °C.

Important: Work neatly

MycoWood BIO is sterilized before shipment. Once the bag is opened, the substrate may be exposed to spores and microorganisms present in the environment.

For best results, we recommend inoculation under a laminar flow hood or in a thoroughly cleaned work area. An air-still box can also help reduce air movement during inoculation.

Incubation

After inoculation, allow the bag to be colonized until the substrate is completely overgrown with mycelium.

The duration depends on the species, temperature, and inoculation rate. As a general guideline, oyster mushrooms can usually colonize the substrate within a few weeks, while certain species, such as shiitake, require a significantly longer incubation period.

Once the substrate has been sufficiently colonized, the fruiting al conditions depend on the species being cultured.

Storage prior to inoculation

We recommend using the bags as soon as possible after you receive them.

They can generally be stored for about 3 to 4 weeks in a cool, clean place away from direct sunlight, provided the bag remains completely sealed.

It is best to use the substrate promptly to minimize risks associated with aging or prolonged storage.

Recommended equipment

  • Mycelium on colonized grains
  • 70% alcohol or an appropriate disinfectant
  • Clean gloves
  • Clean, disinfected blade or scissors
  • Sealing machine to properly seal the bag
  • Laminar flow hood or static air chamber to improve inoculation conditions

Shipping and Bulk Orders

Due to the weight and volume of the bags, we can ship up to 6 bags of MycoWood BIO per package.

Whenever possible, we therefore recommend that you order in multiples of 6 to optimize shipping and reduce shipping costs.

For larger orders, we can ship up to approximately 100 3-kg bags per pallet.

Shipping costs vary depending on the destination, the number of bags ordered, and the shipping method.

For business-volume shipments or recurring orders, you can also contact us so that we can offer you the most suitable shipping solution.

In some cases—particularly for very large orders or those that include several heavy items—the automatically calculated shipping charges may not reflect the actual cost. In such cases, we may contact you before shipment to adjust the shipping method or the shipping charges.

Important Notes

  • Condensation may form inside the bags during transport due to temperature fluctuations. This does not necessarily indicate a problem with the substrate.
  • Check the condition of the bags as soon as you receive them.
  • If you notice any problems before opening the package, keep the bag sealed and take several detailed photos.
  • Claims must be submitted within 10 days of receipt.
  • You can contact us through our contact page.
