Manual Inoculator for Mycelium on Sawdust
- 🔧 MANUAL INOCULATOR: Designed for the precise and efficient inoculation of mycelium into sawdust. Designed for 12 mm holes with a depth of 30 mm
- 💎 HIGH QUALITY: Made from durable materials, ensuring sturdiness and longevity.
- 📏 EASE OF USE: Ergonomic and easy to handle, allowing for quick and even inoculation.
- 💡 NOTE: Ensures even distribution of the mycelium, promoting optimal growth.
Recommended equipment
Thismanual inoculation tool allows for the quick introduction of mycelium into wood when preparing logs or blocks for mushroom cultivation.
It is designed to fill holes approximately 12 mm in diameter and 30 mm deep, making it particularly well-suited for growing on logs using sawdust-based mycelium.
Why use an inoculation tool?
- Saves time: allows you to quickly fill the holes drilled in the logs.
- More consistent dosing: makes it easier to place an even amount of mycelium in each hole.
- Cleaner work: minimizes mycelium loss during inoculation.
- Ideal for batches of logs: convenient if you’re inoculating several logs or blocks.
Compatibility with mycelium
We primarily recommend using mycelium on sawdust, which is easier to handle with this tool and better suited for filling holes in wood.
The grain-based mycelia can also be used, but they are generally less practical for this type of inoculation. They may also attract more insects and rodents.
Important tip: After inoculation, carefully cover the holes with wax to protect the mycelium from drying out, insects, and contamination.
Recommended equipment
- 12 mm wood drill bit for drilling holes that fit the tool.
- Japanese inoculation drill bit for fast and precise drilling.
- Vegetable wax, beeswax, or paraffin to seal the holes after inoculation.
Usage
- Drill holes in the log using a suitable drill bit, ideally 12 mm in diameter.
- Fill the container with mycelium on sawdust.
- Place the tip of the tool over the hole to be inoculated.
- Press to insert the mycelium into the wood.
- Immediately cover the hole with wax to protect the inoculation.
- Store the logs in the shade, in a cool, damp place, during the incubation period.
Tool Maintenance
Clean the tool before and after each use to minimize the risk of contamination and ensure it continues to function properly.
- Remove any remaining mycelium with a brush or a damp cloth.
- If necessary, clean with soapy water.
- Make sure to dry the tool thoroughly before putting it away.
- Store it in a clean, dry place.
Note
This tool is designed forinoculating logs with mycelium. It is particularly useful for growers who want to prepare multiple logs more quickly and consistently than by hand.
For best results, use freshly cut hardwood logs, work carefully, and make sure to maintain proper humidity throughout the incubation period.
