Pulmonary oyster mushroom, Italian oyster mushroom, pleurotus pulmonarius

Easy to grow variety, suitable for both beginners and professionals. The aggressive mycelium leaves little chance of contamination. They are often grown in summer because they are more resistant to high temperatures than oyster mushrooms, but they can also be grown in winter with better quality and better preservation of the mushrooms. They have a rapid cycle. Incubation can take 10-15 days, and they fruit quickly, steadily and predictably.

The caps range in size from 3 to 7cm, the color ranging from light brown to dark brown depending on the growing conditions. The plants are generally smaller than pleurotus ostreatus, and they tend to grow more individually than in clusters.

Conservation of mycelium: 1 month in the fridge

Growing conditions

Variety typically adapted to heat, for hot countries or summer conditions. However, it can be grown all year round, even in winter and its conservation is better in cool conditions.

Fruiting is extremely rapid and the harvests follow each other in a very predictable manner. Harvest mushrooms young for better preservation and texture.

Substrates

Straw pasteurized with heat or lime, pasteurized sawdust and other lino-cellulose materials.

Indoor or outdoor cultivation.

We recommend our ready-to-use substrate , particularly suitable for wood-eating varieties.
