The white oyster mushroom (also called Elm oyster mushroom) is one of the easiest varieties to grow. Its mycelium adapts to a wide variety of substrates and resists contamination well.
It can be grown indoors or outdoors, for example on mulch in the vegetable garden.
This variety produces large white caps, reaching 15 to 20 cm, particularly during second harvests.
❄️ Mycelium conservation: 1 month in the refrigerator.

🔍 Note: This variety is part of the Pleurotus ostreatus and bears the name "elm oyster mushroom" because of its association with the Hypsizygus ulmarius, with which it is often confused. However, this variety is more productive and easier to grow indoors than Hypsizygus ulmarius.
Our commitment to quality:

We produce our mycelia in laboratory conditions, which guarantees the purity of the varieties and optimal quality.

We produce our myceliums in a 100% organic way and all our products are certified "BE-BIO-01, Agriculture Belgium" by CERTISYS.

🌱 Growing conditions
It can be grown indoors all year round. This variety is particularly sensitive to CO2 levels. In indoor cultivation, good ventilation is necessary to limit the size of the plants and encourage the extension of the caps.
Outdoors, sowing is done in early spring for a harvest in early summer or autumn. It is essential to keep the substrate moist in case of drought.
🛠️ Substrates
In indoor cultivation: Use pasteurized straw, pasteurized sawdust or other lignocellulosic materials.
We recommend our organic straw pellets which work particularly well with oyster mushrooms, by simply adding 1 teaspoon of lime and 2 liters of cold water per kg of pellets.
Our wood chip-based substrate suitable for lignivorous varieties will also work very well.
