🌱 The variety
The Shiitake, known in Asia for over 7000 years, is often called the "fragrant mushroom." Rich in vitamins (notably D and B) and trace elements such as magnesium, phosphorus, and selenium, its benefits are numerous.
🎨 The Shiitake is distinguished by its flat cap, whose color ranges from light brown to dark brown. Its flesh is firm and supple, and depending on the cooking method, it develops woody, earthy flavors with hazelnut notes. The caps generally measure between 3 and 6 cm.
Our Fruiting Blocks
Our Fruiting Blocks ready to grow allow you to cultivate your own shiitake mushrooms at home.
- Composition : Water, wood shavings, cereals, lime, mycelium. Net weight of the Fruiting Block: +-5 kg.
- Dimensions: 25 x 20 x 20 cm (L x W x H)
The substrate was incubated for about 75 days to allow the mycelium to break down and assimilate the nutrients necessary for optimal production. This shiitake variety produces the majority of its mushrooms during the first harvest (7 to 10 days). Our kits are among the most productive on the market.
Notes: Harvest indications are estimates based on our experience but are not guaranteed. Productivity depends on growing conditions and the producer's experience.
Our quality commitment:

We produce our myceliums under laboratory conditions, which guarantees purity of strains and optimal quality.

Our myceliums are produced 100% organically and all our products are certified "BE-BIO-01, Agriculture Belgium" by CERTISYS.

🔧 Usage
If you cannot use the fruiting block immediately, you can store it for 3 to 5 days in the refrigerator.
To prepare the fruiting block:
- Remove the plastic from the bag over a sink and rinse the fruiting block with clear water.
- Place the fruiting block on a plate.
- To maintain constant humidity, you can cover the fruiting block with pierced plastic.
🌿 Where to grow it?
Shiitake can be grown indoors (kitchen, garage, cellar). It needs indirect light and 80 to 90% humidity. Avoid drafts, radiators, and direct sunlight to prevent the fruiting block from drying out. To increase humidity, spray water or water 1 to 2 times a day. Cover the fruiting block with pierced transparent plastic to maintain humidity while allowing breathing.
🍄 Harvest and storage
Harvest between 1 and 1.5 kg of fresh mushrooms in 1 to 2 harvests. After the first harvest, let the substrate dry for 1 to 2 weeks, then soak it overnight in water before placing it back on a plate with the fruiting block. The majority of fruits are produced during the first harvest, but you can get additional harvests before composting the substrate.
Shiitakes keep for about 2 weeks in a paper bag in the refrigerator. For longer storage, you can dry them, freeze them, or can them.
