Pholiota Adiposa, also known as Chestnuts or Hazelnut Mushrooms, is a species of the pholiotes family. Probably one of the most aesthetically pleasing mushrooms to grow, it grows in clusters ranging from 3 to 12 cm. The caps evolve from dark brown at the start of growth to a light orange when mature, with edges adorned with small white downs. Its culture is similar to that of nameko, but without the sticky texture. The chestnut stems remain crunchy when cooked, offering a delicate flavor.

Mycelium storage: 1 month in the refrigerator.

🌱 Growing conditions

Like namekos, chestnuts prefer cool temperatures of 10 to 15°C. They require constant high humidity. For better conservation, it is advisable to harvest young mushrooms, just before the caps open. After the first harvest in "top fruiting", the plastics can be removed and the bales must be watered regularly in "rain".

🛠️ Substrates

Chestnuts are grown on pasteurized sawdust in indoor cultivation, or on logs in outdoor cultivation.

We recommend our ready-to-use substrate , particularly suitable for wood-eating varieties.
