Pholiota Adiposa, adipose pholiote, chestnuts, hazelnut mushrooms,

From the pholiote family, chestnuts are probably one of the most beautiful mushrooms to grow. It grows in clusters of mushrooms ranging from 3 to 12cm. The caps change from dark brown at the start of growth to light orange towards the end. The edges of the hats are covered with small white downs. Its culture is similar to its cousin namekos, but it does not have the glutinous texture of the latter. Its stems are not too fibrous and remain quite crunchy when cooked. Good flavor.

Mycelium storage: 1 month in the fridge

Growing conditions

Like namekos, chestnuts prefer cool temperatures of 10 to 15°. They particularly appreciate high and constant humidity. 2 to 3 harvests. Harvest young, just before the caps open for better conservation.

After the first harvest in "top fruiting", the plastics can be removed completely, and the bales can be watered regularly in "rain".

Substrates

Pasteurized sawdust in indoor cultivation, logs in outdoor cultivation.

We recommend our ready-to-use substrate , particularly suitable for wood-eating varieties.
