The substrate was incubated for a period of approximately 75 days to allow time for the mycelium to decompose and fully assimilate the nutrients it needs for optimal production. This variety of shiitake has the particularity of yielding almost all its mushrooms during the first batch (7-10 days). Our kits are among the most productive on the market.

Remarks: Harvest indications are estimates based on our production experience but are not guarantees. The productivity of the blocks depends on the growing conditions and the experience of the producer.

Use

If you cannot use it directly from the bundle, you can keep it in the fridge for 3-5 days while waiting.

Remove the plastic from the bag, preferably over a sink and rinse the bundle with clean water. Place the bundles on a plate. To maintain constant humidity, you can cover the bale with perforated plastic.

Where to cultivate it?

Inside (kitchen, garage, cellar). Shiitake needs a little light to grow. Prefer indirect sunlight, avoid anything that risks drying out the bale: draft, radiator, sun. Optimal humidity is 80-90%.

To increase humidity, you can spray water or water it 1-2 times a day. You can also cover the bale with transparent plastic pierced with small holes (possibly the plastic of the bale opened in two). This will allow the bundle to breathe and the mushrooms to grow while maintaining a humid atmosphere.

Harvesting and conservation

Harvest between 1 and 1.5 kg of fresh mushrooms over 1 to 2 harvests.

After the first harvest, let the substrate dry for 1 to 2 weeks. Then soak it overnight in water and put it back on a plate with the grow tent. This variety generally produces the majority of its fruits on the first harvest, but you can try one or more additional harvests before composting or mulching your plants.

Once harvested, shiitake will keep for around 2 weeks in a paper bag in the fridge. For longer storage you can also dry them, freeze them or preserve them in jars.
