The white oyster mushroom (also called elm oyster mushroom) is one of the easiest varieties to cultivate. Its mycelium adapts to a wide variety of substrates and is resistant to contamination.
It can be cultivated indoors or outdoors, for example on mulch in the vegetable garden.
This variety produces large white caps, reaching 15 to 20 cm, especially during the second harvests.
❄️ Mycelium preservation: 1 month in the refrigerator.

🔍 Note: This variety is part of the pleurotus ostreatus group and is called "elm oyster mushroom" due to its association with Hypsizygus ulmarius, with which it is often confused. However, this variety is more productive and easier to cultivate indoors than Hypsizygus ulmarius.
Our quality commitment:

We produce our myceliums under laboratory conditions, which guarantees purity of strains and optimal quality.

We produce our myceliums in a 100% organic way and all our products are certified "BE-BIO-01, Agriculture Belgium" by CERTISYS.

🌱 Growing conditions
It can be cultivated indoors all year round. This variety is particularly sensitive to CO2 levels. In indoor cultivation, good ventilation is necessary to limit stem size and promote cap expansion.
Outdoors, seeding is done at the beginning of spring for a harvest in early summer or autumn. It is essential to keep the substrate moist in case of drought.
🛠️ Substrates
For indoor cultivation: Use pasteurized straw, pasteurized wood chips, or other lignocellulosic materials.
We recommend our organic straw pellets which work particularly well with oyster mushrooms, simply adding 1 teaspoon of lime and 2 liters of cold water per kg of pellets.
Our wood chip-based substrate suitable for lignicolous varieties will also work very well.
