Button mushroom, agaricus bisporus
The button mushroom is the most consumed variety of mushrooms worldwide. Cousin of meadow agarics which are generally found in grazed meadows, button mushrooms are generally grown on a substrate based on pasteurized composted manure.
It is a mushroom: it grows on a horizontal substrate generally covered with a layer of casing which has the function of maintaining constant humidity and providing certain bacteria favorable to the fruiting of the mushrooms.
For more information on growing mushrooms on a small scale, we recommend the following reading:
Semi-professionally: Agrodoc 2: Small-scale mushroom cultivation (Agaric, Volvaire)
Please note that button mushrooms are not the easiest mushrooms to grow. Preparing compost requires a certain technique. If you have never grown mushrooms, we advise you to start with our ready-to-grow button mushroom kits or our gray oyster mushroom mycelium.
Conservation: 1 month in the fridge

Crop Settings
Inoculation rate: 0.5 to 5% mycelium relative to wet weight compost. Initially it is better to add 5% mycelium to limit the risk of contamination and gradually reduce it when the techniques are perfected.
Example: 1.5kg of mycelium allows you to sow between 30 and 300kg of compost which can produce between 6 and 60kg of fresh mushrooms over 2 harvests in optimal conditions.
