Grooved Beech Dowel Pins 1000 pcs.
- 🔩 GROOVED BEECH TOURILLON DOGS: Lot of +-1000 pieces, size 8*30mm, ideal for growing mushrooms and carpentry.
- 🌳 NATURAL MATERIAL: Made from beech, a hard and resistant wood, suitable for most varieties of cultivated mushrooms.
- 💪 VERSATILE USE: Used in myciculture to inoculate logs with mycelium, and in carpentry for robust and durable assemblies.
- 📦 EASY TO USE: The grooves ensure better distribution of the mycelium or glue, guaranteeing optimal adhesion and effective inoculation.
Dimensions : 8 x 30 mm
Weight : 1 kg (about 1000 dowels)
Beech dowels are ideal for cultivating many varieties of mushrooms.
Use in Carpentry: Beech dowels are perfect for furniture assembly and mounting. Their strength and precision ensure durable and robust joints.
Use in Mushroom Cultivation: In mushroom cultivation, these dowels are essential for inoculating wood logs with mushroom spores. Thanks to their groove, they allow better spore retention, thus optimizing mushroom growth.

Instructions for use
To use grooved beech dowels in mushroom cultivation, here is a step-by-step guide:
Necessary materials:
- Grooved beech dowels
- Mycelium on grain or sawdust
- Wood logs (preferably hardwoods like oak, beech, or maple)
- Drill and 8-9 mm bit
- Hammer
- Protective wax (optional: soy wax, beeswax, paraffin, or green clay)
Inoculation Steps:
-
Plug Preparation:
- Soak the plugs in water for 24 to 48 hours.
- Boil the plugs for 30 minutes to sterilize them.
- Drain them then place them in a jar or a Unicorn 3T bag.
- Inoculate the plugs with grain or sawdust mycelium.
- Incubate the plugs at a temperature of 20 to 25°C for 2 to 3 weeks, until the mycelium fully colonizes the plugs.
-
Log Preparation:
- Choose freshly cut logs (maximum 3 months). Avoid softwoods.
- Drill holes in the logs using a drill and an 8-9 mm bit. The holes should be slightly deeper than the height of the plugs and spaced about 5 cm apart.
-
Log Inoculation:
- Insert the inoculated plugs into the holes using a hammer. Make sure the plugs do not protrude from the holes.
- Cover the holes with protective wax to prevent contamination and drying out. You can use soy wax, beeswax, paraffin, or green clay.
-
Incubation:
- Place the inoculated logs in a shaded area protected from the wind. Avoid direct contact with the ground to prevent insect infestations.
- Keep the logs moist by watering them occasionally, especially during hot periods.
-
Fruiting:
- After an incubation period of 12 to 18 months, your logs will start producing mushrooms.
- A well inoculated log can produce mushrooms for 3 to 5 years.
