Non-GMO guaranteed soy wax
After inserting the plugs into the logs, the holes are generally covered with wax. We estimate about 50g for a 1-meter high log inoculated with 50 plugs. According to our experience, it takes just under one gram per plug, and we allow a little extra to cover the edges of the log.
The wax serves to protect the mycelium from insects and diseases as well as from drying out.
Unlike paraffin often used, soy wax is plant-based and will break down quickly in the environment without creating waste.
